Assistant Dean of Harvard College for Public Service
Gene Corbin is Assistant Dean of Harvard College for Public Service. Gene is a native Texan with vast experience in social service and social action. Following graduation from college, he worked on an international development project in rural Haiti and taught in a public school in Ft. Worth, Texas. He then attended seminary and became the Executive Director of Stewpot Community Services Inc., a community-based nonprofit organization in Jackson, MS. Gene then shifted his focus to community organizing as the Lead Organizer for the Industrial Areas Foundation (IAF) in Austin, Texas. Gene was named a Pforzheimer Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government where he completed an M.P.A. degree in 2001. After working on an educational project in Viet Nam, Gene served as the Executive Director of the Phillips Brooks House Association (PBHA) from 2003 to 2011 until assuming his current role.
