Come listen to Stoneman, founder of Youthbuild, a program that provides jobs and hope to over <strong>100,000 youth</strong>. Where others saw only the impossible, Stoneman saw the chance to <strong>make a difference</strong>. Targeting the most at risk young people, Youthbuild provides these youth with a chance to turn around their lives and also<strong> improve their community</strong> by providing them with an education, concrete skills, and employment opportunity. A youth and community development program, Youthbuild has over 270 programs in 45 states and continues to <strong>foster leadership</strong> and address core issues facing low-income communities.<br />

<p>With Calendar Change comes a host of new dates for the Fall Events in the Phillips Brooks House Association.  Check out the website for specific details about these events as the dates draw nearer.</p>
<p><strong>First Year Open House: </strong>Friday,  September 4th<strong> </strong>(2:00-5:00pm) <em>This is the kick off to the Freshman Dean&#8217;s Office &#8220;Get Involved Weekend,&#8221; so start off by picking an excellent PBHA public service program. </em></p>
<p><strong><a href="http://pbha.org/?p=1509">Plant Sale</a></strong><strong>: </strong>Friday, September 4th  to Wednesday, September 9th. <em>This annual sale offers students and community members a chance to buy plants to furnish their rooms while also supporting PBHA&#8217;s programs. Come to PBH to pick up your plant this week!</em></p>
<p><strong>PBHA Open Mic Night: </strong>Sunday, September 6th (9:00-11:00pm) <em>An event during FDO’s “Get Involved Weekend&#8221; for PBHA students to gather and show their talents. </em></p>
<p><strong>Upperclassmen Open House: </strong>Tuesday, September 8th (2:00-5:00pm)</p>
<p><strong>Through the Gates: </strong>Saturday, September 12th. <em>Several of PBHA&#8217;s programs will host &#8220;Through the Gates&#8221; Service Trips with the Freshman Dean&#8217;s Office to introduce First Years to the world beyond Harvard Yard. </em></p>
<p><strong>PBHA Bike Sale: </strong>Saturday, October 3rd. <em>This annual bike sale helps fund PBHA&#8217;s term-time programs by auctioning donated bikes. It&#8217;s a great way to get a bike for the school year!</em></p>
<p><strong>Cabinet Meetings for PBHA Directors: </strong>September 12th-13th (Cabinet Retreat),  and the following Wednesdays 7-9pm, October 14th, November 11th (Elections), and December 2nd (Elections).</p>

Every year, we gather together for a formal dinner in Lowell dining hall to celebrate the achievements of our graduating seniors and to recognize outstanding volunteers in all 79 of our programs. This festive dinner brings together over 150 PBHA volunteers, and no matter what program you do, we would love for you to join us on May 4!</p>
