Join us October 30th and 31st for a weekend of events re-connecting generations of PBHA alumni
Friday, October 30th
7:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. — 9th Annual Robert Coles “Call of Service” Lecture and Award, Memorial Church
PBHA’s Robert Coles “Call of Service” Lecture & Award brings a significant leader in public service to inspire the Harvard community to become engaged in critical social issues. The lecture honors former PBHA volunteer, trustee, and longtime Harvard faculty member Dr. Robert Coles ’50 and his book The Call of Service, which examines the idealism PBHA seeks to instill in its student volunteers.
This year, the event will honor Alicia Garza, Special Projects Director for the National Domestic Workers Alliance and co-founder of the Black Lives Matter movement. She is an organizer, writer and freedom dreamer based in Oakland, CA. In 2013, Alicia co-founded #BlackLivesMatter, an international organizing network developed after the murder of Trayvon Martin, focused on combating anti-Black racism in all of its forms. She has been the recipient of numerous awards for her organizing work, and her writing has been featured in publications such asThe Guardian, The Nation, The Feminist Wire, Truthout.org and more.
This event is free and open to the public, but space is limited — RSVP now to reserve your spot! (We recommend using a computer to register, rather than a mobile device.)

The event will honor Steven Hawkins with PBHA’s Outstanding Alumni Award and David Orr as our Outstanding Supporter for 2015, and bring together past and present PBHAers, providing an opportunity to share past successes and visions for the future.
A fully catered lunch will be provided. A wine and beer bar will also be available.
Tickets for the luncheon are needed. Price for general admission is $55. Individuals working in Public Interest Careers are able to purchase a reduced-price ticket for $30. Students can purchase tickets for $10. The price of a full ticket represents the cost per plate to PBHA. We appreciate your support in making this luncheon possible, however, we do not want ability to pay to play a prohibitive role in your attendance, and encourage alumni to pay what they can!
Any questions about the lunch? Please email MC at email@example.com.
