It’s Getting Hot in Herre

My first thought upon recognizing the greying tower of flesh and rhetoric that is our former Vice President Al Gore was, “Oh my God he looks like Larry Summers.” My second thought was, “If one man has had the single greatest positive impact in raising awareness of and galvanizing support for environmental efforts, it’s either Al Gore or Captain Planet. If one man has the opportunity to have the single greatest negative impact in humanity’s appreciation for the earth, it would be Al Gore if he decided to adopt Nelly’s late-90s pop-rap classic, “Hot In Herre” as the theme song for his lecture tour.” Not that the St. Louis rapper isn’t great (although he isn’t) or that the song is terrible (because let’s face it, “Hot in Herre” had the video where Nelly wore a band-aid under his eye, and the fact that I still don’t know why means it’s pretty aweome). It’s just that Round Mound of Turn this Planet Around-stage Al Gore and the warning “I’m gonna take my clothes off” should be kept as far away from each other as possible.

etc etc etc I love Al Gore and his speech was baller. Vote, children!
