Supports: Afterschool Program Group Officer; Afterschool, Elderly, South Boston, South End, Mission Hill, Native Community, and Special Needs Programs.

The PBHA Directors of Programs (four in all) support student PBHA program directors. They ensure that program run effectively, responsibly, and safely. They work in conjunction with program directors to plan for the semester, do site visits, and write evaluations of the program. Finally, they provide institutional memory as program directors change each year. They report directly to PBHA’s Deputy Director.

After graduating from Harvard, Kate opened a youth center in South Boston‘s Mary Ellen McCormack Housing Development and continued in South Boston as the Director of South Boston FANS where she worked with parents and teens to build a healthy community. Kate’s professional areas of focus are youth development, out-of-school time programs, youth with special needs, parent leadership and development, community organizing and development, and community based trauma response. Kate works with the South Boston, Mission Hill and South End Communities of Boston and is a member of the United Youth and Youth Workers of Boston.

Programs supported by Kate: Alternative Spring Break (ASB), Best Buddies, Committee on Deaf Awareness (CODA), Elderly Affairs (Vernon Hall, 1-2-1, Alzheimer Buddies, Pets as Therapy), Harvard Emergency Services (HEmS), Keylatch (After School , Mentor), King School Buddies, Kids with Special Needs Afterschool Program (KSNAP), Mission Hill (After School Program [MHASP], Mentor), Native American Youth Enrichment Program (NAYEP), South Boston Outreach Big Sib, Strong Women Strong Girls (SWSG).
