The Legacy Prize for Creativity and Service
PBHA / Monday, December 14th, 2009 / Comments OffThe FAS Committee on Public Service is now accepting nominations for the Creativity Foundation’s Benjamin Franklin Legacy Prize for Creativity and Service.
The Legacy Prizewinner will receive an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C. on Friday evening, April 23, thru Saturday afternoon, April 24. The prizewinner will represent public service and Harvard at events with Greg Mortenson (whose inspiring efforts in Pakistan and Afghanistan are chronicled in the bestselling book, Three Cups of Tea) and five additional student awardees from other colleges and fields. These activities will include an award ceremony and reception at the Smithsonian on Friday night followed by lodging at the Cosmos Club and a Saturday morning roundtable discussion with Greg Mortenson. Prizewinners will also become ongoing members of the Benjamin Franklin Junto that seeks to foster creativity and communication among leaders in various disciplines.
Sophomores and juniors who have demonstrated a strong commitment to public service while exemplifying creativity and innovation in their service activities are eligible for consideration. Nominations or self-nominations, detailing the commitment and creativity of nominees in public service in a one-page letter, should be e-mailed as an attachment to Gene Corbin (corbin@fas.harvard.edu) with “Franklin Creativity and Service Nomination” or left in the envelope on the door of Room #304 in the Phillips Brooks House.
Nominations must be received no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, 1/29/10.
