For more than a century, the Phillips Brooks House Association (PBHA) has witnessed the power of students and communities working together for social change. In integrating communications from top to bottom, internally, externally and across all programs, PBHA continues to fulfill its mission by offering vital experience to generations of leaders in service and strengthening partnerships between students and local communities.

We identify our story.

Our organization strives for social justice. As a student-run organization, we draw upon the creative initiative of students and community members to foster collaboration that empowers individuals and communities. Today, over 1,400 volunteers participate in more than 85 programs serving 10,000 low-income people throughout Greater Boston. Through social service and social action, PBHA endeavors to meet community needs and promote social awareness and community involvement at Harvard and beyond.

We tell it persuasively.

Empowered and motivated by the creativity and enthusiasm of students together with the guidance of professional staff and the knowledge of community members, we share stories from our effective year-round and year-to-year programming. Through powerful reflections and trainings, our volunteers are empowered to share their experiences with others while thinking critically about the work they do and its impact on themselves and the communities around them.

We deliver it strategically.

With the rise and prevalence of social media, including Facebook, Twitter and Youtube, PBHA utilizes these powerful virtual tools to not only effectively convey and receive information but also to increase internal and external communication efforts. With fresh and updated designs and content, PBHA is able to engage, in a unique way, with its volunteers and communities. Newsletters, annual reports and email updates complement these new forms of communication.
