CHANCE works with students at local high schools to develop the desire, support, and motivation to gain admission to college and to succeed there and beyond.
High school and college students interested in joining CHANCE should email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
In the Fall of 2020, CHANCE will hold two virtual sessions over Zoom each week in the late afternoon/evening, both of about an hour and fifteen minutes. In the first half, students will log on and receive questions through email to answer. After a break, the remaining time will be spent in breakout rooms going over the questions with a tutor and a few other students. While each week will have a particular focus (SAT Math, Reading Comprehension, etc), students are encouraged to come for advice on the college process, writing, and/or general homework help.
Founded in 1985, PBHA’s CHANCE (College High-school Alliance: A Nexus for Creative Education) is a college preparatory program which strives to give students from local high schools the desire, support, and motivation to gain admission to college and to succeed there and beyond. CHANCE provides SAT tutoring, homework help, and college application advising to students in grades 9-12.
Thanks to the F. Gardner Jackson Fund, CHANCE is able to award scholarships to students from local high schools. All who have regularly attended CHANCE and are in their junior or senior year are eligible.
