PBHA's Mission Hill Afterschool Program (MHASP) is currently planning on running a completely online model, following our normal program schedule. Each week the students will participate in a combination of individual meetings with mentors, age group specific academic enrichment and larger program wide activities (field trips, movie nights, etc). We will be putting a heavy focus on supporting students academically as well as maintaining our mentorship focus. We will also be putting a heavier emphasis on mentoring our volunteer counselors and preparing them for later leadership in the organization.
PBHA's Mission Hill Afterschool Program (MHASP) aims to provide a safe, fun, and uplifting learning experience for children in the Mission Hill community. Through personalized attention, creative lesson planning, and input from the community, the Mission Hill After School Program seeks to provide the most full and rewarding experience for all of its participants.
Program History
The Mission Hill After School Program has served Boston's Mission Hill community for more than 30 years. MHASP provides homework help and engaging curricula, while also creating a place for students to come together as members of the community and build social skills. Throughout the years, MHASP has developed into a larger, more established, and more effective program, with the greatest recent changes being the creation of the Orange Group age group and the addition of the Director of Student Development position. We look forward to continuing to build our rich history as a program.
For Families
The Mission Hill Afterschool Program strives to serve as many families as possible. Though space is limited, we push to include every student who wishes to be a part of the program. To enroll your child in the Mission Hill Afterschool Program, please email mhasp@pbha.org.
For Volunteers
The Mission Hill Afterschool Program serves approximately 60 children and, as we strive to maintain one-on-one pairings between counselors (tutors) and the students, we rely on a committed group of volunteers. If you have an interest in working with children, meeting college students outside your school, becoming a part of a new community, or if you just want to know more about MHASP, please email mhasp@pbha.org.
