Geoffrey Canada, HGSE ’75, is the visionary leader of the Harlem Children’s Zone – an innovative educational and anti-poverty model that President Obama plans to duplicate in 20 cities nationwide. Canada is the recipient of numerous awards and focus of national media coverage: U.S. News & World Report named Canada as one of “America’s Best Leaders” and the New York Times Magazine describes the Harlem Children’s Zone as “one of the most ambitious social experiments of our time.” Signed copies of Whatever It Takes: Geoffrey Canada’s Quest to Change Harlem and America, by Paul Tough, will be available for purchase following the lecture.
