This fall, Chinatown ESL will be hosting its weekend classes over Zoom. As we have in previous years, we will continue to provide tutor trainings for all new tutors and supply tutors with a standard textbook and curriculum to work from (although tutors are free to teach whatever they want!). Interested tutors of any level are welcomed to apply - our application closes earlier than most other programs. Reach out to chinatownesl@pbha.org with questions!
PBHA’s Chinatown ESL program works with adult immigrants in Boston's Chinatown to develop English language proficiency. The program offers five levels of classes, from beginning fundamentals to advanced conversation. Lessons focus on developing practical conversational, reading, and writing skills useful for everyday situations.
Volunteer with Chinatown ESL
Teaching experience and Chinese language ability are not required to volunteer with Chinatown ESL, although Cantonese speakers are always especially in demand. Curriculum is provided and classes are held on the Harvard campus once a week for two hours.
